RowdMap Co-Founder Showcases Innovative Medicare Program & Participants on Industry Mainstage
Leverage Health Solutions’ Portfolio Company Exhibits Thought Leadership and Marquee Informatics Platform
WASHINGTON, DC – June 26, 2013 – Earlier this month, the newly-formed Health Data Consortium hosted “Health Datapalooza IV”, where the Leverage Health Solutions leadership team was counted among over 2,000 attendees at an annual gathering of public and private sector organizations in Washington, D.C. As the U.S. healthcare industry continues to look to this forum for leading examples of products and services that facilitate the release and use of health information to improve outcomes and reduce cost, this year’s conference prominently featured one of Leverage Health Solutions’ flagship portfolio companies, RowdMap.
On the Tuesday morning main stage, following an address by U.S. Chief Technology Officer Todd Park, RowdMap Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer, Josh Rosenthal, Ph.D., emceed “Family Feud’n,” a game show where Payers and Providers competed in a hilarious face-off exploring CMS’s innovative and popular Medicare Advantage program. RowdMap’s Health Profit Intelligence Platform provided compelling visualizations as backdrop to illustrate areas of the country where the RowdMap team surveyed the market with questions related to what people think about Medicare Advantage, payer/provider collaboration in serving Medicare members, and the quality of hospital offerings.

Later that afternoon, consistent with the mission of the Consortium to help innovators unleash the potential of new health data being released by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and other organizations, Dr. Rosenthal also hosted a Healthcare Entrepreneurs’ Bootcamp, which provided a framework for a full room of participants to form teams, develop new ideas and pitch them to a panel of industry experts.

Dr. Rosenthal also participated in an interview on the Kojo Nnamdi Show with Bryan Sivak, Chief Technology of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, and Todd Park. This interview highlighted the role that the government, and now the Health Data Consortium, are playing in the reform of the U.S. healthcare system and in enabling entrepreneurs to access information that changes the way patients and providers manage care. “There are two things that you need to do to create the conditions for entrepreneurialism or 1,000 innovations to blossom. One is you have to make that data available … and two is you have to create …, a market that rewards people for solving the efficiency problems or solving quality problems,” says Rosenthal.
“As health plans and providers grow in their partnerships with each other and with the government in support of Medicare and Medicaid members, as well as consumers on the emerging health insurance exchanges, Leverage Health Solutions will continue to collaborate with RowdMap to help industry stakeholders address key objectives and questions about their participation in these exciting programs,” says Richard Lungen, managing member of Leverage Health Solutions.
